The Willowbank Foundation creates opportunities for people of all ages to experience, learn about and take part in conservation — removing barriers to access and helping turn connection into understanding, and understanding into action.
By bringing together schools, families, communities and conservation expertise, we can inspire more people to become part of protecting the natural world around them.
ACCESS TO NATURE
Because everyone should have the opportunity to connect with nature. We help remove financial, social and geographic barriers that can prevent schools, young people and families from experiencing nature first-hand. Through supported access, hands-on experiences and community partnerships, we can open the door to experiences that might otherwise be out of reach.
COMMUNITY CONSERVATION
Bringing people together to care for the places around them. Conservation becomes more powerful when communities are part of it. We support opportunities that bring people, schools, businesses, iwi and community groups together to take practical action for nature. From restoring habitats and supporting local biodiversity to participating in conservation initiatives, small actions can grow into meaningful change when communities get behind them.
INSPIRING FUTURE GUARDIANS
Creating experiences today that can shape how young people care for nature tomorrow. We support programmes that bring conservation to life for children and young people — connecting them with native wildlife, wild places and the people working to protect them. By giving young people opportunities to see, experience, question, discover and participate, we can help build the knowledge, curiosity and sense of responsibility that creates the conservation leaders of tomorrow.
